Residencies
Henna Nadeem, Practising, 2010
The South London Gallery’s new programme of artist residencies launched in 2010 thanks to the completion of its building project, including the Outset Artists' Flat. Located on the top floor of the SLG’s new Matsudaira Wing, designed by architects 6a, the flat provides pleasant and inspiring accommodation for a programme of three annual residencies.
Each year the SLG hosts three residencies in the Outset Artists’ Flat, interspersed with shorter projects with artists and curators.
The annual Outset Residency takes place in spring and is offered to an international artist commissioned to make new work as part of the SLG’s exhibition programme
The Nina Stewart Artist Residency is offered to a recent graduate from a UK art school. The six-month residency, with studio provision courtesy of SPACE, culminates in an exhibition in the new galleries on the first floor of the Matsudaira Wing.
The third annual residency focuses on the SLG’s work with different sectors of the local community and involves partnerships with other organisations.
Current residencies include The Nina Stewart Artist Residency currently held by Edward Thomasson and the ongoing partnership with ACME through the Southwark Studio Residency currently held by K Yoland.
The Nina Stewart Artist Residency with the South London Gallery and SPACE is funded by The Nina and Roger Stewart Charitable Trust, with additional support from Bloomberg.
The Outset Residency is funded by Outset.
