Overview
Location: Level 2, Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre, SE1 6TE
Exhibition open 12-6pm on Friday 11 January.
Initiated by the Art Assassins, the South London Gallery’s young people’s forum, Culture Shop: January Sale is an off-site live art event and exhibition situated in an empty shop unit in Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre. Breaking away from the usual commercially driven notion of January sales, Culture Shop: January Sale is a free and open exchange of creative ideas, experiences and young people's perceptions of culture. The Art Assassins' animated programme of activity presents a broad variety of responses to the idea that 'culture makes you who you are' through scientific experiments, wrestling-inspired demonstrations, live music and pieces that consider the phenomenon of YouTube and gaming addiction.
