SLG Receives Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities Grant
The South London Gallery is delighted to announce that it has been awarded £294,832 from the Big Lottery Fund.
Margot Heller, Director of the South London Gallery said: “This generous funding allows us to build on and consolidate three years of work with local families. The new grant will enable us to create opportunities for up to 2,500 children and their families from the Sceaux Gardens estate, and a further four local housing estates, to gain greater confidence in playing out near their homes and enjoy expanded friendship circles across estates, leading to stronger, better-connected communities.”
This grant enables a converted retail unit to be transformed into The Shop of Possibilies, a play space for after-school and weekend workshops. On Sundays play workers will deliver play activities in the community and during school holidays many different sites will be used across the five estates.
