Overview
The Coelacanth Press hosts an evening of short films and readings to launch The Coelacanth Journal Issue No. 8 Lazarus Taxon.
Returning to the core concept of the Journal, this issue resurrects a number of artists who have been somewhat overlooked, or 'gone missing'. The evening features short films by Cynthia Maughan, whose witty and economical filmmaking is rediscovered in this issue via a personal interview with fellow filmmaker Ed Webb-Ingall. Prior to its premiere at the Liverpool Biennial, there is an exclusive preview screening of Matt Wolf's I Remember, a lyrical documentary about the poet and artist Joe Brainard. A collection of Brainard's mimeo cover art is curated in the Journal by Les Coleman, cult artist, writer and collector, who also reads and reflects on Brainard's writing.
