The film school takes place at the South London Gallery across four sessions and is aimed at young filmmakers aged 18 – 30 who want to direct creative films. We will also consider applications from those above this age range who are early in their film career.
The film school will take place on Saturday 13, 20 November & Saturday 4, 11 December, 10am–6pm.
The SLG Film School is a free, radical film course that takes place annually at the South London Gallery. Since 2015, the school has worked with nearly 100 young people from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the film industry.
It focuses on non-conventional forms of filmmaking and storytelling, and aims to develop young people’s individual creative practices through workshops, screenings and talks by invited guests. The school is committed to influencing long-term change in the film and art world by supporting new talent.
We are looking for students who are lovers of film and are interested in making a career in moving images. We are particularly keen to support applicants who have not yet had access to similar programmes, and those from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the film industry; including those: with Black, Asian or ethnically diverse heritage; from low-income backgrounds; who identify as LGBTQ+; who identify as disabled.
