This edition was produced to mark the end of Jessie Brennan’s residency on Pelican housing estate which borders the South London Gallery. In spring 2017 Jessie Brennan launched YOUR WORDS, a project that invited residents from Pelican to share their experiences of life on the estate. Their stories were then transformed into large and small-scale temporary installations across Pelican. To mark the end of the project Jessie presented WE ARE HERE, a text installation on the roof of Heron House and a poster publication distributed to residents, which documented some of the conversations, contributions and research developed over the course of the project.

BIOGRAPHY
Jessie Brennan (b. Plymouth, UK, 1982) is a London-based artist whose practice explores the inter-relations between people and places, informed by their social and political contexts and a direct engagement with the individuals who occupy them. Her work is research-led and takes the form of drawing, photography, installation, performance, film, writing and publications. Recent solo shows include: Dhaba, Sussex (2017); dalla Rosa Gallery, London (2016); HS Projects, London (2015); Rochester Art Gallery, Kent (2013); Marian Cramer Projects, Amsterdam (2012); Queen’s Hall Gallery, Narbeth (2011); Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum (2011).
