EXHIBITION: NOTHING IS FOREVER, 25 JUNE – 19 SEPTEMBER 2010
This edition was produced to accompany the exhibition Nothing is Forever, 2010 and the launch of the South London Gallery’s expansion into a neighboring residential building.
The South London Gallery show Nothing is Forever, 2010, celebrated the completion of the gallery’s £2 million building project. The ambitious group show brought together wall paintings, drawings and text pieces by 20 British and international artists, including artist Sam Porritt.
The exhibition included use of the Outset Artists’ Flat, where the results of an experimental project started by Porritt were revealed to the public. Porritt was invited by the South London Gallery to stay in the flat for two nights and make a work in situ before inviting an artist of his choice to do the same, and so on. In this way works in a broad range of styles and techniques were brought together, this included Porritt’s conceptual landscape incorporating stones, peanuts and snippets of his hair which he cut during his stay.
