The SLG's Young People's Forum

The Art Assassins are a diverse group of young people aged between 14-21 years old who meet every Tuesday at the South London Gallery. The group work together with contemporary artists, designers, film makers and each other to create a programme of events for other young people and a wider audience.

Every Art Assassins’ project is led by the members themselves and often evolves through an investigation of how it feels to be a young person living in south London. Through a process of facilitated peer-learning the group have begun to define a unique approach that tests the assumption that art is for everyone and their projects often culminate in the creation of new participatory platforms for young people to represent themselves and their ideas.

Previous projects have seen the Art Assassins broadcast live through the night from a secret forest location, Bivvy Broadcast, team up with a young people’s group in Johannesburg to record and release their own cassette, WE ARE US AND YOU ARE YOU, develop one of the first collaboratively designed video games made by young people, Arcade Peckham, and takeover the London airwaves for 24 hours, Resonance FM Takeover.
