Black British Hood Feminism: Building Creative Communities
Sat 11 Oct 2025, 3-5pm

£10 / £5 MEMBERS / £5 CONCESSIONS

Join us for a special screening and conversation exploring Black British Hood Feminist practices through music, film, art and community.

Be the first to watch artist Hillarynx’s new music video, The 3rd, directed by Lauren Gee. In response to the film, Hillarynx has invited Claudia Wilson from Pure Vinyl Records and artist/producer Maniko to perform a special sonic reflection, fusing live piano with vinyl.

The screening will be followed by a conversation moderated by Lauren Gee bringing together Hillarynx, Maniko, NuAloe and Claudia Wilson and further live performances.

Black British Hood Feminism looks at how we can make softer spaces, without reinforcing the perils of Babylon – the structures of colonial power and legacies of slavery. At a time when creating art, both politically and financially, is increasingly precarious, Black British Hood Feminism is a catalyst to explore how we can create safe, empowering creative communities.

Guests are invited to stay at the end of the event to connect and continue the conversation.

Co-Curated by producer and director Lauren Gee and Hillarynx.

Her tunes such as Belly Full and The 3rd have been heard on BBC3, Jazz FM, Rinse FM and she has performed at Peckham Festival, Stanley Arts, Southbank Centre, We Out Here and Jazz Cafe.
