WORKSHOP

Alongside Ranti Bam’s exhibition Sacred Groves, this workshop will focus on grounding, sensing and attuning as intimate practices. Connecting with embodied impressions and the images and reflections that arise from this.

The session will involve invitations into sensorial practices of listening, moving, sounding and physical contact with other participants. There will be a focus on slowness and weight. Participants are welcome to engage at their own pace and according to their own comfort levels.

In their current research and practice, SERAFINE1369 works with the ways that we too are material, shaped by our environment – not necessarily in a psychological way, but by way of relational response. Thinking about clay and the liveliness of that material as its own body, and with its own agency, participants will explore the ways that we as humans might also be moulded through.

ABOUT SERAFINE1369

SERAFINE1369 is a London born artist, dancer, acupuncturist and body-focused researcher working with dancing as a philosophical undertaking, a political project with ethical psycho-spiritual ramifications for being-in-the-world; dancing as intimate technology. They work with/in the context of the hostile architectures of the metropolis towards moments and states of transcendence.

Their methodology is intuitive and many-headed and underpinned by their interest in the invisible systems and structures that choreograph bodies in life. The political implications of this work encourage an un-settling, anti-assimilationist practice concerned with the integrity and efficacy of structures (bodily and social), collaboration, hosting and an interest in somatics, semiotics and symbiotics from a body-led, experiential position.
