EXHIBITION: Desire Paths
SAT 18 & SUN 19 JUL, 2-5:30PM

Colorful mixed-media collage composed of layered paper, fabric, and found materials arranged on a flat surface. The piece includes stitched elements, cut-out photographs, handwritten dates (“1966,” “1992,” “1996”), and fragments of printed text such as “you are not falling behind” and “hope.” A small blue-bound booklet, red textured panels, safety pins, beads, and ribbon bows create a dense, tactile composition. Various black-and-white images—eyes, a hand, and a lightning scene—are interspersed across bright red, green, yellow, and purple shapes.

Art Assassins Artwork Collage, 2026.

Free, booking required.

Join us at the SLG for an afternoon of art, discussion, creative activities and live performance!

The SLG’s youth collective, Art Assassins, have used the idea of Desire Paths as a theme for their journey together. Over 9 months, the group have worked with Halina Edwards to explore different art-making techniques, and thought through ideas of ‘community’, ‘present self’ and ‘future worlds’. The Art Assassins have connected with emerging artists, other youth collectives, and visited art exhibitions.

Through this, the Art Assassins have developed their sense of where they are at, where they want to go on their own art journeys, and where they want to take the art world.

Desire Paths, the exhibition, is the culmination of this 9-month journey together.
