From June to September 2025, sessions will be led by Family Space Artist in Residence Jahnavi Inniss.

Immerse yourself in the world of quilting and patchwork as you celebrate your rich personal histories.

Suitable for children aged 5–12 years with their parents and carers.

ABOUT FAMILY SPACE

Family Space is a programme of free workshops that take place on the last Saturday of the month. Sessions are self-directed and designed for families with children aged 5-12 years old. The space is supported by the SLG’s Art and Play team.

ABOUT JAHNAVI INNISS

Jahnavi Inniss is an award-winning graphic designer and craft educator whose practice is focused on celebrating untold stories within Black British history. Through her adaptation of the culturally rich medium of quilting, she documents history through a critical lens, challenging distorted historical narratives and creating representation and empowerment for Black Brits.

As a craft educator, Jahnavi facilitates workshops which engage participants with stories of joy and empowerment to celebrate, reframe and document our collective and personal histories. Through her workshops she emphasises the importance of documenting history for posterity, as well the historical value of textiles as a tool for self- expression, empowerment and resistance.

BOOKING

The workshop is free and drop-in any time from 11am-1pm. No booking required. Places are available on a first come, first served basis.
