£5 / Free for UAL Camberwell Students
Artists Shepherd Manyika and I. Nakhla use cut, paste and sampling techniques to explore the ways sound is recycled.
In this workshop, which responds to Leonardo Drew’s exhibition, participants will use found sounds and work collectively to construct new narratives. The group will consider the relationship between sound, sculpture and the audio experience.
This event is free for UAL Camberwell Students. Please email adoudu@southlondongallery.org to reserve a student ticket.
Who is this event for?
This event is open to everyone, but aimed at emerging artists who would like to share their practice with others and learn new skills.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Shepherd Manyika is a London-based artist-educator whose works take on multiple formats and mediums. He is interested in memory, place, space and repair as restoration. Themes of workshops, play, music and sound are used to create transformative art spaces from within and outside the institution. Manyika graduated with a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in 2011 and an MA in Academic Practice in Art, Design and Communication from Central Saint Martins in 2019.
I. Nakhla is an artist, musician and educator. Through sound, music, performance and installation, they build sonic worlds. Listening to environment – and how it remembers – Nakhla makes mischief with categories, rhythms and keys.
