SLG Skills: Botanical Printmaking

This 4-week course provides students with an introduction to printmaking and the plant life of the gallery’s Orozco and Fox Gardens. At the end of the 4 weeks participants will produce a set of prints that showcase the progression of techniques they have learnt. 

This experimental printmaking course, introduces various lo-fi printmaking and collage techniques easily replicated at home. Students will explore experimental Mark making, Mono Printing, Stencil & Stamp printing and Collage.  

The course is led by Augusta Akerman.

ACCESS  

  • Each session is two hours long.  
  • Seating is available.  
  • The workshop involves hands-on making. It is low noise.  
  • The event takes place on the ground floor. 
  • Ear plugs, ear defenders, magnifying glasses and wheelchairs are all available. 

BIOGRAPHY

Augusta Akerman is an artist and illustrator based in South London. She studied Fine Art Photography at Glasgow School of Art before working as a Set Decorator and Graphic Designer for film and television. Since completing her MA in Illustration at Camberwell College of Art she has worked as a freelance illustrator and designer alongside exhibiting her work.

Her work combines various printmaking techniques with collage and digital elements, working with a variety of materials from wax crayons to cardboard cartons.

Augusta teaches the ‘Drawn to Digital’ short course at Chelsea College of Art.

Concessions are available for SLG Members, students, over 60s, unwaged and disabled visitors. Proof or ID for each concession will need to be shown upon collection of tickets.
