This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of weaving on a lap loom. The workshop promotes play with texture and colour, and culminates in participants creating their own individual wall hangings.

The class covers how to warp up a loom, including how to get the right tension, making tassels to give your wall hanging a simple fringe finish, and different weaving techniques which leader Lucy Rowan talks through step by step during the lesson.

All materials are provided and participants take home their own woven wall hang and the skills to make more at home.

Lucy Rowan runs a craft and lifestyle blog that has been featured in many craft magazines including Mollie Makes which she has written tutorials for. She is a self-taught weaver excited to pass on her skills to other makers.

SLG Skills is a new series of courses and workshops taking place in the beautiful Fire Station Kitchen. Any surplus income from ticket sales will help support the SLG’s extensive education programme.
