This iteration of South by South, presents Kalushi (2017) directed by Mandla Dube. Set in 1976, the film tells the true story of Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu a 19-year-old street hawker who becomes an icon of South Africa’s liberation.

The film is accompanied by a filmmaking masterclass with director Sam Masud, attendees of the masterclass can view the film for free.
