The Decadent Bestiary: Fin-de-Siècle Poetry & Prose, Edited by Sam Kunkel and Jessica Gossling, £18.99.
The Decadent Bestiary is a lavish new anthology celebrating the fin-de-siècle’s fascination with animals, myth, and the uncanny. Edited and introduced by Jessica Gossling and Sam Kunkel, this richly illustrated collection gathers more than forty tales and poems that blur the boundaries between human and beast.
From the shimmering “Golden Fly” to the “Wounded Lion,” these decadent fables and symbolist visions explore beauty, cruelty, transformation, and the dark pulse of nature that haunts the modern soul. Alongside well-known figures such as Oscar Wilde, Charles Baudelaire, and W. B. Yeats, the anthology revives lesser-known voices—Rachilde, Eric Stenbock, Remy de Gourmont, and others—some translated into English for the first time.
Featuring forty-five black-and-white illustrations and two exclusive art postcards in every limited hardback edition.
Ghost Driver by Nell Osborne, £12
Published in September with a launch here at the SLG, Nell Osborne’s brilliant debut novel Ghost Driver is part horror story, part tragicomic nightmare about a woman who has taken every wrong turn available to her.
Yto Barrada: Thrill, Fill & Spill exhibition poster, £28
An A2 poster celebrating the exhibition Yto Barrada: Thrill, Fill and Spill. The poster features the work Void Fill Painting, 2025.
‘Void Fill’ is the name of the paper packing material, often used in shipping. Barrada refers to it as “entrails of paper” and it appears in several of her other works.
Barrada was particularly taken by the poetic name given to something so mundane. For the artist, void fill also symbolises the circulation of commodities, echoing themes that are central to her practice, which frequently investigates the movement of goods, people, and cultures.
The Anthony Bourdain Reader: New, Classic and Rediscovered Writing, £25
New, Classic and Rediscovered Writing by one of the world’s most singular voices on food and the cultures around it, including visceral graphic novel excerpts, some of his most well-loved recipes and never-before-published pieces.
32 boroughs by Harriet Turney, £30
One of our most popular photography books this year, 32 boroughs, London, (2013-2021) is a photojournalism story of youth in London by Harriet Turney. As author Jeffrey Boakye says, this ‘is a reminder of the stories that don’t always get told, the realities that don’t always get seen … multicultural, multiethnic and unmistakeably London.’
Cinema Rif Tanger tote bag, £15.00
A tote bag produced with the Cinémathèque de Tanger, in celebration of Yto Barrada’s solo show Thrill, Fill & Spill at the South London Gallery.
Cinematheque de Tangier is an independent theatre founded by visual artist, Yto Barrada, that focuses on film conservation and circulation. Christina Kimeze Limited Artist Edition of 75, £960
Artist Christina Kimeze has produced Arches, 2025, a new limited-edition artwork, exclusively for the SLG.
Kimeze’s paintings evoke images in the mind’s eye and the shifting nature of our relationship to our inner lives. Patterned interiors and abstracted landscapes create a sense of mood rather than describing specific places. Within these ambiguous spaces are female figures based on the artist, her friends and family, but they could also be images of ourselves or others from our dreams.
All proceeds from edition sales directly support the exhibition, events and communities & learning programmes.
