Your Space To Make is an ambitious, new after-school programme for young people aged 13-16.
Working in partnership with teachers from two local secondary schools near the gallery – Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich and Sacred Heart Catholic Secondary School – students from both schools are invited to join artist-led creative projects. These projects take place at Art Block, SLG’s free space on Sceaux Gardens Housing Estate, throughout the year.
Your Space To Make sessions focus on working with mediums and techniques not typically available in school, with young people taking the lead in selecting projects. During half-term breaks, an Open Studio provides space for independent making, with access to materials and support from the Gallery.
The project centres on creative exploration, building confidence, and giving young people a regular space to be creative, build skills and connect with peers.
