The Knowledge of Taste is a cooking workshop that explores food as a form of community-building, cultural transmission, and archival of personal memories. The activity will reflect upon a form of knowledge that lives within the body, bringing up questions about how the sense of taste can be used to map belonging.
The workshop will start from a cookbook I have created to map the Latin American female presence at Elephant & Castle. Female food traders have been invited to share a recipe that holds a special meaning for them. During the session, participants are invited to cook together a selected recipe from the cookbook, while engaging in conversations to get to know each other and share their experiences.
*This workshop is open to people from all backgrounds and ages. However, Latin American participants are encouraged to attend, and their experiences will be centered during the discussions. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know prior to attending the workshop.
