SLG130 Terms and Conditions

SLG130 PORTFOLIO TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Registered Charity Number: 312160
VAT no. 997 3210 88
Registered as South London Fine Art Gallery & Library

The South London Gallery (SLG) works closely with all our artists to produce editions which are to be sold exclusively through the SLG or other outlets approved by the SLG.  It is the artists’ and the SLG’s expectation that all editions purchased from the SLG will not be acquired for resale and will be retained by the purchaser for their own personal enjoyment. Specifically you may not sell or offer for sale the edition on any internet website or online auction. In line with this copyright of the artwork remains the property of the artist and therefore you may not, at any time, publish or submit for publication or reproduction of any image of the artwork to any third party, including any internet websites, for any purpose.

Alvaro Barrington’s print edition for SLG130 is divided into two versions, one of which features the words ‘Spider the Pig’, and the other ‘Pig the Spider’. We are unable to respond to special requests for either one of the versions.

The price of the SLG130 portfolio may be subject to change as it sells out. Every effort will be made to ensure that the description and price of goods shown on the SLG 130th anniversary website are accurate at the time of the buyers order.

The South London Gallery reserves the right to refuse an order.

Once purchased you may not return the artwork and the South London Gallery does not offer refunds.

PAYMENT

The SLG130 portfolio will be launched at the VAT exempt price at an online fundraising event on Mon 27 Sep, 6-7pm BST. The portfolio will be available to purchase at £12,000 at the event and after this, the price may be increased and will be subject to VAT. International buyers are responsible for tax and customs charges and any associated costs on entry to the destination country.

All portfolio buyers will be required to submit a copy of an approved ID document and two forms of proof of address before the SLG can process payment. This is in line with the EU Money Laundering Directive. This legislation requires all art dealers in the EU to verify client identity when selling artwork valued at or exceeding €10,000. Your purchase is only confirmed once the SLG has approved your documents.

We will have to take, and be seen to take, all reasonable steps to mitigate the risks of money-laundering occurring in the course of our business, including the risks of being paid with illegally obtained funds.

As part of these obligations and before the completion of any sale, we will be legally obliged to carry out identification and Customer Due Diligence on all buyers. These checks are broadly similar to those carried out by banks when you open up a bank account. We use the Customer Due Diligence platform arcarta to process these checks.

For individuals, we will require a copy of a valid photo identity document such as a passport, driving license or national ID card which confirms their full name, date of birth, nationality and proof of permanent residential address. For companies, we will require company details including evidence of incorporation, directors and the ultimate beneficial owners. In a situation where an agent/advisor is acting on behalf of a buyer, we may be required to identify the ultimate buyer in addition to the agent.

Payments received by the SLG will have to be received from a bank account held in the name of the person or entity named on the invoice. In the event that you wish for a third party to pay for a purchase on your behalf, you will have to seek our prior authorisation to do this and if the information you provide to us doesn’t meet with these new legal requirements, unfortunately we will have to reserve the right to refuse third party payments.

Please understand that we are now obligated to do this for all buyers, even those with whom we have dealt in the past, but rest assured that we will do our best to make the process as quick and efficient as we possibly can.

We assure you that the information which you provide to us will be held and processed in accordance with our privacy policy and will remain secure and confidential at all times.

The information provided to us will be held and processed in accordance with arcarta’s privacy policy and the SLG’s privacy policy and will remain secure and confidential at all times.
