SCEAUX GARDEN’S ESTATE – SUMMER 2017

For the inaugural Open Plan commission on Sceaux Gardens estate, artist and designer Morag Myerscough designed a bespoke installation for the newly launched Art Block, a space for local children and families to make things, be creative and play during free weekly workshops.

Working with Myerscough, local children helped to design Art Block through workshops exploring pattern making, poetry and 3D design which were then interpreted by Myerscough for the design for the space and exhibited in the Art Block gallery.

Morag Myerscough’s practice is characterised by strong colour and big type, as well as her use of geometric structure, often hand-painted and assembled with an affinity for scale and drama. Her bold and engaging approach creates specific, local responses to each distinct audience that will see and experience the work, using it to create community and build identity.
