On one side of the Gibraltar Strait, Ibrahima, a young Senegalese man living illegally in Tangier dreads the dangerous voyage to Europe. On the opposite shore, as the fishing trade declines, Agostinho is reluctant to depart for better employment in Holland. The two migration stories’ similarities reveal the need and difficulty of finding one’s place as the globe falls into a state of crisis.

Alassane Sy (Restless City, Mediterranea) gives and incredibly compelling performance as Sega a young Senegalese man navigating loss and disappointment when his efforts to reach Europe fail and he is thrust back into life in Dakar.

Film Africa is an annual London film festival celebrating the best African cinema from across the continent and diaspora brought to you by the Royal African Society. The festival is back for its 8th edition and takes place from 2 to 11 November at the South London Gallery, Rich Mix, BFI Southbank, Bernie Grant Arts Centre and Ritzy.
